This is my first-ever blog post, and honestly I don’t know where to start on something like this. Out of everything I could think of posting about, I thought an introduction to who I am would be best.
Who am I?
Hello, I’m Eden Mackenzie, and I have a dream of being a fashion designer. I am currently working on building a portfolio and improving my overall skills over the next year before I go to school. I plan to record my process and post it here and on my other platforms. Along with sharing my fashion journey, I also dream of diving into BookTok and sharing my love of books.
My plans for my blog/webiste
I plan on having different pages on my website for the different aspects of my blog; I’ll have a section for my portfolio, a section for my fashion writing and posting, and links to my long-form videos from YouTube. As well as having a section for my content about books. All of my accounts will be a mix of books and fashion, but I will try to separate the videos in a way that is easy to navigate. They will all be linked to each other easily through my Linktree.
Fashion
My own personal inspiration comes from a variety of different places. I get inspiration from history, especially; there is so much beauty in the past. I love many eras of history, and I draw not only from the fashion of those times, but also from the architecture and other art forms of those eras.
I would like to make a few things known when it comes to my creativity and how I view the art world. I am Christian; I always have been and always will be. I believe that God created the world and the beauty we see in it, so I like seeing the beauty in nature that God created. My name is Eden, after the Garden in Eden; I feel like it means something, and I want to use more nature inspiration in my designs to honour the Lord.
Books
In terms of posting about books and what I am reading, it won’t be as much as I post about fashion, but it will still exist. I’ll share some things about my personal book taste. I like a variety of genres, but it really depends on my mood. I enjoy fantasy, romance, mystery, and a variety of other books. When it comes to reading romance, spice isn’t my favourite thing in the world, so any books I read will have very little to none. I can handle a little bit of it, but I don’t like it when it’s overly descriptive or long. Those scenes never seem to be actually important to the plot of the books.
Other Views
I am not particularly fond of AI. I don’t think it belongs in creative spaces; it takes away from human authenticity and the true creative process. So if anyone says that my work in any form is AI, believe me when I say that is 100% not true in the slightest. I detest it.
